Styling the Seasons with Hogben Pottery

March 30, 2019

How potty are you about pottery?

Established in 1991 by Jane Hogben, Hogben Pottery began by creating decorative terracotta, urns and flower pots for the garden. Today its very much a home affair, specialising in jugs, bowls and mugs and created entirely ‘in-house’ using a specialist technique called ‘sprigging’ {applying separately moulded designs in 3D}.

A brand known for its love of the countryside, animals and garden pickings, each design is curated with love and nostalgia of all things quintessentially British.

I first stumbled across Hogben Pottery in London at one of the Country Living Fairs, totally enamoured by their unique designs and ability to convey the beauty of the countryside so perfectly. I loved the way each item was special, slightly varying in size and colour; providing each piece with its own uniqueness.

As well as pottery, Jane and her team also create greetings cards and sculptures, available online and via various stockists across the country and even internationally. You can also catch the team at various shows and events throughout the year, all information available via their website.

I am absolutely sure you will love this brand as much as I do {my cupboards are positively brimming with Hogben joy!}

Happy darling weekend, which mug will you choose for your Sunday morning tea in bed? ☕️

Colour = Be Happy {Spring Edit} with Boden Clothing

    March 27, 2019

I’ve always been a creature of colour if i’m honest. I remember briefly entering a monochrome phase which lasted all of a month; I just couldn’t cope with how depressed it made me feel! Colour for me is life and subconsciously I match my wardrobe, nails and lipstick to match the season {in Instagram language I think we call this #stylingtheseasons} But, more that that I think it reflects me as a person. I am, on the most part somebody that has a lust for life. Even on those dull, metaphorically speaking days, colour brings me joy, happiness and a zest to be the best version of myself.

So, this is my Spring colour edit, the must have pieces that I’m enjoying. I’ll pre-warn you, it does contain a healthy serving of the happiest of Boden colours, especially my new favourite {Happy} yellow.

    and these gorgeous statement pieces…..

I think you’ll agree, they certainly bring the ‘cheer’ into this seasons trends….another Boden triumph I’d say!

    keep shining,

        Spring Fresh with Garden Trading

        March 18, 2019

At long last the days are lengthening, the trees are now covered in a blanket of lush greenery and the blossom is in abundance. Spring, it’s got to be one of the most joyous seasons of the entire year and after a long unpredictable winter, we certainly welcome it with open arms. April officially marks the season of new life, the bulbs begin to push through the once sodden ground and the anticipation of new life comes into fruition. Ranunculus , Peonies, Hyacinths and Daffodils fill our homes with a sweet aroma as our thoughts turn to refreshing our living space for the season ahead.

        Spring pickings

For me Spring ignites the desire to clear away anything that’s been hoarded during the winter period and breath new life into a room.

I have been working with Garden Trading to add a little ‘Spring Fresh’ into my living area and to create a sanctuary of seasonal bliss. My sitting room upholstery needed cleaning and the chimney sweep gave the log burner a thorough going over! Albeit happy with the general decor of the room it was looking tired and in need of new life. I kept hold of the pink velvet cushions and a pale grey wall colour but wanted to add further points of interest {and a place to enjoy a coffee with friends}.

I was keen to add some more texture to my sofas, I wanted them to look cosy but still very fresh.

I chose the Recycled Diamond Blanket in grey and woven from 100% plastic bottles, so if you decide to use it outside for picnics too it dries out really quickly. Alongside it the Charlton Cushions in Linen with a gorgeously heavy weight, they’ve added just the right level of texture whilst still harmonising beautifully with a neutral colour scheme.

Botanical decor is a big factor in any room revamp, a seasonal style is never complete without blooms to accent the time of the year. Soft Early evening lighting is my favourite, with the correct level of lighting it can really complete a rooms atmosphere.

The Bermondsey Table Lamp with its rustic raw oak and contemporary coated steel and a movable arm, I just adore this and the Broadwell Vase, large enough to house even the biggest of bouquets. These completed my coffee table look perfectly.

We always have logs on on the hearth, even in Spring~ I’m inclined to light the burner on a chillier evening to add cosiness.

The Tapered Basket certainly brings the wow factor, a striking shape and hand woven in rattan; it makes the log run SO much easier and much less plentiful due to its capacity, my husband is over the moon!

Finally, candles….I’m a candle junkie, I’ll admit it. A Spring aroma complimenting my seasonal blooms makes me VERY happy. What works better than ‘Sea Salt?’ This is the Sea Salt House Candle.

Inspired by windswept beaches, large open spaces and the salty spray of British coasts, this is perfection. Along with the fact that they are poured by one of my absolute favourite candle companies St Evals.

The prettiest of Spring revamps, I hope you’ll agree?

Garden Trading have very kindly offered one of my lucky readers the opportunity to ‘win the lot’. All of the new items featured on this blog could be coming directly to you, for your very own Spring revamp! Tap the link below to enter.

Eyelash Lift with Blush & Glow, Southwold

        March 6, 2019

I must admit I was pretty pleased to be asked back to the little pink door at the gorgeous Blush & Glow, Southwold, the luxury facial I had back in January was just so beautiful I was keen to explore the array of treatments available further.

As a historical false eye-lash junkie I have worked hard to build up some reasonable condition with my own lashes. Years of extensions had left my own lashes feeling rather disheveled and lacking serious lustre! I finally feel like my lashes have recovered from all the lash glue and are back to good health but without a tint, the eyelash curlers and lashings of mascara; like most other people’s lashes, they look nothing.

Blush & Glow kindly invited me to try one of their lash lifts, a treatment designed to enhance your natural lashes and an alternative to going down the false lash route. Combining perming and tinting, this treatment is designed to create visibly lifted and longer lashes; without the damage. Sounds good doesn’t it?

The treatment took around an hour and was combined with a Mini Detox Facial. This 15 minute detox facial using a jade roller glides over the face in specific ways in order to drain the skin of toxins, waste, and puffiness, leaving your skin healthy and naturally radiant. This quick treatment is the perfect skin pick-me-up (especially after the weekend or a night out). Being only 15 minutes and not disturbing your makeup, you can take advantage of this treatment any time. Perfect treatment to have whilst relaxing with the eyelash treatment taking shape! This facial (worth £15) is currently offered free of charge with a lash uplift)

I felt entirely comfortable and relaxed throughout the whole treatment process (the treatment bed is so cosy I battled to keep my eyes open infact!) Overall, I have been completely blown away with the results! My lashes look considerably longer, they are curled beautifully even first thing in the morning (it’s so great to wake up with a ‘face’) and because of the combined tinting they are luscious and dark!

I will ABSOLUTELY be sticking with the 8 week maintenance of this gorgeous treatment, I’m already considering how fabulous it’ll be in the summer makeup free on my holidays! Pop over to my highlights on @asliceofsuffolk {beauty edit} for a before and after video.

Go grab an appointment, you won’t regret it!
