Project Kitchen {Part two}

June 29, 2018

I didn’t think I would ever get to ‘Part Two’ of this kitchen reno blog, in the thick of renovating, its tricky to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But, in the whole scheme of things, from planning to completion I would say its been about 3 months (so I know I have no room for complaining).

Project Kitchen {Part One] detailed much of the plans and before pictures, plus stories upon stories of the project start to finish; which are still live on the highlights of my instagram page, so feel free to pop over to take a look.

The point of this final entry, is to really be a “where do I buy” guide. I always try and tag my images on instagram, but I know many of you are still popping DM’s to me with questions, so hopefully this blog will cover it.

Im SUPER happy how the project has turned out and looking back at our ideas on the first blog, I feel that the decisions we made, on each element, have certainly been good ones for us. I actually wouldn’t change a thing!

Cabinets are Pebble Ermine, you can buy here

Worktops are quartz in colour Artico, you can buy here

Range cooker & hood are Stoves UK, you can buy it here

Stool you can buy here and is painted in this

Canisters, shelves & stools are from here

Belfast sink is from here

Tap is from here

Pendants are from here

Handles are brushed nickel from here

The flooring is Wellington Oak, from here

Hand wash is from here

Feature wall is Stiffkey Blue from here

The utility room has been a real success, I just love the contrast between the two areas, plus I have gained lots of extra storage in the larder cupboard.

Cupboards are Northumberland grey from here

Oak worktops from here

Hooks are old Laura Ashley

Baskets are from here

Walls are painted in All White from here

I’ve still got accessorising to do, plus I would like a roman blind and some art,  but I hope this has been a help, especially to those that have emailed and messaged me that are planning projects of their own. I’ve been so flattered at those that are keen to use our kitchen as inspiration.

Feel free to ask any questions & a very happy weekend!

Organic Sun Care with Green People

June 24, 2018

For me, sun care for my family and I is super important. When I was younger (and jet setting across the globe as cabin crew) believe it or not, I took very little care of my skin, intent on just getting the best tan possible. These days my approach is very different, choosing to self tan way above sitting in direct sunlight for hours on end to achieve that perfect glow.

Recently, Green People sent me a selection of their organic sun lotion to review, for both myself and my little people.

Firstly, what I didn’t realise, is that the SPF of a sun lotion, only indicates the level of protection against the harmful UVB radiation. It does not tell you anything about the protection it offers against the dangerous UVA light. Now, this is news to me. So, in a nutshell, just because a product has a high SPF, it does not guarantee it is offering the same level of protection against the UVA rays (this encompasses premature ageing)

What I love about these products, is that not only do they offer an excellent level of protection, they are also suitable for sensitive skin, including eczema and skin allergies (so zero nasties). I tested this on my young nephew, at 3 years old, he has eczema which is medically treated with creams on a daily basis. After a few weeks of use, I have had amazing feedback. My sister loves the way the product glides on and sinks in quickly, its thick, but not so think that you can rub it in (isn’t that always a complete nightmare!) and more importantly, absolutely no reaction apparent. In the past, so many products have irritated his sensitive skin.

Did you know that children are more prone to prickly heat, when using waterproof sun lotions? I certainly didn’t. The award wining organic formulas are chemical free, so prickly heat and irritations will be a thing of the past. “Yippee” I hear you say!

When I read through all of the selling points of these wonder lotions, its astonishing. The ingredients list alone had me jumping for joy; beeswax and berry wax, to repeal water, without blocking the sweat glands, aloe vera, myrrh and chamomile to calm and sooth inflammation. Avocado, Myrrh, Green Tea and rosemary extract providing antioxidant and skin vitamins for excellent cell protection, and Pure earth minerals, edelweiss extract and uv derived from cinnamon ester acid, creating a synergistic blend; offering broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Honestly, the list is endless, across all products in the sun care range, protecting the skin so throughly.

The product which I found probably the most intriguing, was the ‘Natural Tan Accelerator’ now I wouldn’t usually opt for a factor as low as SPF 15, but the product claims to speed up your body’s ability to tan and then locks in your tan for longer. This active ingredient is Inositol, a naturally occurring nutrient from the fruits of the carob tree, which acts as a stimulation for the formation of melanin. AMAZING, is the only word I have for this product! Not only does it do what it says on the tin (it speeds up tanning, it increases the depth of the tan and so far, my tan DOES seem to be lasting longer) It effectively increases the bodies own defences against the damage caused by sun exposure, which I think is pretty incredible. Still packed with all the goodness you would want from a sun lotion and protection from the ever crucial premature ageing, this for me, is a fabulous product.

So, to round-up these products, if you are looking for a lotion, whatever age and skin type, to be a seriously good protector, with a fierce caring nature for allergies and skin irritation, that glides on smoothly and sinks in quickly, that extends that ethical and nurturing element across their entire range, Green People sun lotions are for you!  To access the range click here

After all, those balmy summer days are our favourite right?

Treatbox UK {June Box}

June 15, 2018

Wouldn’t it be nice if  you were delivered a little gift each month, as a surprise? To get home from work/school run/the weekly shop, to find a little something on the doorstep thats JUST for you. We all like the ‘happy mail’ feeling, I know I do, thats for sure. I was recently discussing, how it can be tricky to find time for myself, a bit of ‘me’ time. Always so much to do (and often too little time to do it in!) I was interested in how others have a little ‘pick me up’ during the month, when work is tough, the baby is weaning, the toddler is potty training and ALL the other million possibilities that can make us feel needy of a little ‘me’ time.

Now we all know too well, ‘me time’ is a concept that can be a near on impossibity when a zillion jobs are queuing in front of our eyes, you’re knee deep in ironing, and the empty fridge isn’t going to buy and prepare dinner! But, how about a treat, each month, through your door, containing a few special treats. Just for you? This is exactly the concept of the Treatbox. Each month, for £12.95, a box of goodies are sent directly to your door. Sounds good doesn’t it?

I wanted to review the June box, to see the inside story of what a Treatbox is all about.

For a start, the packaging and literature inside is beautiful. I was a little blown away if I’m honest on how gorgeous it really was! A lot of time (and love) has gone into producing this lovely monthly gift. Inside this months box, a Divine Merci Hand Cream, mine was flower power (retail price of £4.90 for 30ml) A wooden slogan door plaque (retail at £5) Easy to grow sunflower seeds (retails at £2.50) Tweezers from the Vintage Cosmetic Company (retails at £8) Scented mini wet wipes (retails at £1) Sweet Little Wishing Bracelet (retails at £4) and my favourite, the handy meal planner pad, half of it being a shopping list pad ‘This Weeks Master Plan to eat Happy’ (retails at £6.50)

The quality of the products are very good, I certainly feel that I have value for money. I also think that the items included are ones I will actually use and enjoy (and will last)  My little girl and I had a lovely time planting the sunflowers, so aspects of the box can really be enjoyed by other members of the family and even the little people, if you wish.

Thanks TreatboxUK, June box didn’t disappoint, already excited for July!
