SS19 Edit with Lighthouse Clothing

May 31, 2019

A capsule collection for a British spring / summer needs to be carefully planned. Albeit, the summer of last year was a succession of balmy hot days and long summer evenings {mine fuelled by barbecued halloumi and sweet fruit filled Pimms} we can’t take anything for granted. In true British style we often get a curve ball thrown in at the last minute; I, in fact remember celebrating my Grandmothers birthday party out on the deck, covered in blankets and huddled extremely closely to the fire pit in August!

Lighthouse Clothing kindly asked me to select some items from their new range to show you guys and I thought it might be fun to create a SS19 Lighthouse capsule; that could cover all eventualities!

I absolutely love the versatility of this lightweight Beachcomber Jacket. A classic nautical shape, waterproof and breathable; perfect for blustery strolls. I’m totally hooked on this soft pink too, so pretty. The Causeway Breton is a true classic, a beautifully soft and slightly thicker cotton, great for cooler coastal days, complete with lovely Lighthouse detail and zip.

The Liliana Dress is another of my firm favourites, made from the most beautifully soft cotton; perfect for beach days and layered with the Ocean Shirt in Oxford Stripe if needed for a little extra warmth {this shirt would also look fab with a pair of jeans, white chinos or as a beach cover up over a swimsuit/bikini}.

I hope you’ll agree, four garments, a huge amount of versatility – whatever the weather.

Huge thank you to Lighthouse Clothing.

Enjoy creating your own SS19 capsule ~ its not as hard as you think.

Luxury Facial with Blush & Glow, Southwold

January 14, 2019

When I was invited to Blush & Glow Beauty Boutique in Southwold, I could hardly refuse. January is a month of grey days, dark mornings and tired looking skin after the festivities of the Christmas period. I think we all suffer a little from Seasonal Affective Disorder, that desire to close ourselves from the world and hibernate, ideally waking up in Spring like the garden hedgehog. Lets face it, thats not reality. Instead we strive to engulf ourselves in ‘feel-good’ factors {that don’t involve copious amounts of Bailey’s on ice and Christmas pudding with as much brandy butter one could physically consume!} For me, exercise and self care is my January prescription.

Blush and Glow is a new luxury Beauty Boutique based in the picturesque, quintessential, famous chic seaside town of Southwold in Suffolk. Renowned for its beach lined beach huts, The Swan Hotel and bespoke shopping.

With beautiful {very inst friendly} interiors and three beautiful treatment rooms, the salon oozes elegance and class. In fact I could hardly believe what was hidden behind the pretty pick door off the high street.

Their ethos is ‘Enhancing your own natural beauty, not covering up. Helping you be your own kind of beautiful’ ‘ sums up nicely the professional approach I received in the salon.

I selected the Luxury Facial which is 75 minutes long {indulgent I know!} I wasn’t quite prepared for how utterly relaxing and rejuvenating this was going to be {and I’ve had a few facials over the years} Using the award winning REN Clean Skincare, the facial really was special; smelling divine. Each stage of the facial was given with so much care and time, I battled keeping my eyes open {although I am a great fan of the afternoon power-nap, finding the time to do this is tricky; honestly the struggle is real} Afterwards, I felt uplifted, glowing and revitalised. Best prescribed as a course of treatments, fortnightly or monthly ideally, I felt even as a one off my skin really did shout “Hooray”. Such a treat for tired skin.

Offering a range of treatments, from facials to hands and feet, waxing, tanning and body care, brows and lashes, makeup and bespoke spa packages, the salon owner Chelsea has created a haven for the discerning; whatever your age.

I will certainly be back, probably for a pedicure next, my winter feet have seen better days…..

As always, feel free to ask me any questions and I will endeavour to answer!

Here’s to a GLOWING January ✨

My Party Edit {December} with Boden Clothing

December 22, 2018

Tis’ the season for all things that sparkle…i’m a BIG fan! Who doesn’t enjoy dressing up in something they love for Christmas parties, drinks with friends and New Year celebrations?

This edit is dedicated to all things accessory and lets be honest, we all have that LBD that we pull out of the wardrobe year after year; but are looking to revamp it with eye-catching new accessories.

So onto my TOP PICKS for this festive season….

The Ottilie Clutch

I was pretty blown away by the utter luxury this clutch bag provides. It’s compact enough to carry all night but roomy to house all of your essentials; in my case, lippy, pressed powder, a miniature perfume, phone and money. Even room for a sprig of mistletoe! The tassle on the zip adds to the fun detail and as always, the lining is to die for! LOVE.

Cordelia Heels

Isn’t it always the battle of style v’s comfort for an evening shoe? Maybe it’s my age, I’m not sure. For me, its essential to look stylish but I need a style that’s super comfortable {dancing the night away is a BIG priority!} I can confirm, these heels are amazingly comfortable. No need to break them in…rejoice! A solid evening of cocktail drinking and painting the dance floor red confirms these really are the prettiest AND comfiest party shoes maybe EVER?

Made from a luxurious suede with tee bar, complete with embellished grosgrain bow and a dainty round buckle makes these shoes up there in the serious style stakes. The heel is mid-height; which is great for all of your party movements, whether that be circling the room and socialising or dancing the night away.

Daria Bracelet

My final ‘must have’ piece is this beauty. This elegant grosgrain bracelet is a perfect match to the Cordelia heels, whichever colour you choose. Finished with suede discs and jewelled detailing it was made for festive events. Complete with lobster clasp which is fully adjustable; this timeless and classical piece will most certainly make it to my most favourite party pieces year after year.

By the time you read this edit Christmas will be fast approaching and we will all be gearing up for a time of over-indulgence, fun festivities, special time with our nearest and dearest and will be reflecting on the year about the go and the exciting year ahead. Why not enter the new year in total style? You’re worth it after all.

A very Merry Christmas & Prosperous New Year to each and every one of you! Have the most gorgeous of celebrations…..

Wreath making with Lily Loves Flora

December 11, 2018

For those of you who have been following my blog and Instagram for a while you will know I’m pretty obsessed with anything flower based. Whether it be letterbox bouquets, country garden pickings, a posy in an old jam jar or foraging for botanicals for a handmade seasonal flower arrangement; flowers make me VERY happy {and I know i’m not alone}

This time of the year our thoughts shift to our very own garden offerings, inspired to forage for the last of the autumn greenery. Berries appearing and every shade of green in abundance down country lanes. A few years ago the idea of making my very own seasonal wreath was pretty daunting, surely I didn’t have the skills needed to make such a thing? But, the truth is, it doesn’t require any skills. Every floristry creation is a personal work of art.

Lily Loves Flora offers a homemade DIY experience with a twist.

You simply order the luxury kit and it provides you with mostly everything you need to make a traditional moss base door wreath. Providing the moss for the base, designed to be used with Blue Spruce and Eucalyptus; which can be foraged for, maybe even as a Sunday afternoon activity with all the family.

Complete with pheasant feathers, birch twigs, pine cones and cinnamon and a beautiful hessian ribbon you have everything you need to make your very own take on the perfect Christmas wreath.

Each kit contains:

one 12″ copper wire wreath frame, reel of wire, moss pins, stub wire, a bag of moss, a selection of accessories and trimmings to decorate your wreath, and ribbon.

Choose from one of two options for your accessories and trimmings:

Country Charm: Pine cones, cinnamon, pheasant feathers and natural hessian ribbon

or

Fruit & Spice: Whole oranges, dried lemons/grapefruit, chillies, cinnamon and red ribbon.

I throughly enjoyed every part of this experience, from admiring the beautiful packaging and guide materials, to following the excellently orchestrated step by step instruction guide on how to make your beautiful creation. What a superb idea, which I am definitely keen on trying again. There’s something VERY satisfying about homemade…don’t you agree?

Christmas Gifting with Magnolia Grey Interiors

November 23, 2018

So finally, after the longest summer that I can remember for years, we are settling well into Autumn. The golden crisp leaves are beginning to fall from the trees, the lawn no longer needs cutting and even the perennials are starting to hibernate for the harsh winter, which I am sure is to come. Our evenings consist of lit candles, wrapping up in cosy throws, twinkling fairy lights and lighting the fire. Christmas is almost upon us and if you’re like me, encapsulating the house in all things cosy and inviting and thoughtful Christmas gifting is on my mind.

Many of us will be inviting family and friends in abundance into our homes over the festive season and I always enjoy giving everywhere a ‘spruce’ up, ready for my favourite time of the year.

Here are some of my favourite picks for adding homely touches to your nest and the ultimate gift guide to the discerning;

St Eval Winter Thyme Candle Tin  and St Eval Winter Thyme Tealights Pack of 9

These beautiful candles are a definite must have, the St Eval range is probably one of the nicest range of candles I’ve tried in a while and are hand poured in Cornwall, England. The Winter Thyme has a scent reminiscent of earthy woodlands, providing the perfect ambience for a winter setting {also perfect for stocking fillers and teacher presents}.

Antique White Chamberstick

I love this traditional style beautiful antique chamberstick, I am a big fan of the Nordic white style. This would be perfect for evening mood lighting, dinner parties and adding a classical touch to your Christmas styling, but likewise can be used all year long.

Trailing Ivy Garland

Oh how I love a garland and this one is very realistic looking, so versatile too. Beautiful styled over the mantelpiece on the run up to the big day, then transfers as a stunning table centrepiece for Christmas dinner parties. I love it twisted into a wreath too, try adding fairy lights and extra seasonal foliage for the wow factor.

Lily Loves Flora Christmas Wreath Making Kit

To mark the start of a new season, or to celebrate festivities, my absolute must buy this Christmas is this stunning wreath kit by luxury florists Lily Loves Flora. It provides you with everything you need to make your own traditional handmade door wreath, all inside one box. The only thing left for you to do is forage for the evergreen foliage. I just adore the concept of this design, a complete guide to making your own; with a beautifully personal touch that the whole family can get involved in. By selecting ivy, box tree stems, laurel, yew, twigs or whatever takes your fancy, your wreath will become completely unique {and the envy of all your neighbour’s!}

Mini Pine Tree

The mini pine tree has almost become a Christmas staple in our house and provides a great addition to the main tree. This cute mini tree is a firm favourite of mine and I am especially pleased that its faux {whilst still looking very realistic} that way I can bring it out year after year.

Fabulous for the kitchen, a table centrepiece, a children’s bedroom or the hallway, I just love the hessian base; giving a lovely Scandinavian feel.

Silver Mercury Bauble

I have chosen this beautiful mercury vintage bauble along side the mini pine tree. With a beautiful glass effect mercury finish, ribbed with a silver top. Just gorgeous! Styled with a colourful, classical or Nordic style scheme; these baubles will finish any tree perfectly.

I hope this guide has gone a little way to making your Magnolia Grey Christmas simply perfect and a big thank you to Charlotte for curating the most beautiful Christmas collection. So many stunning additions to add to your home for this festive season and some wonderful gift ideas to buy from a wholehearted small business.

Here’s to filling our homes [and hearts] with all things beautiful this Christmas!

TreatBox UK {August box}

August 26, 2018

Hello August, the season of long holidays, beachy days, open air swimming and alfresco dining. Probably my most favourite month of the year, for all those reasons! The other BIG love is my garden, at its best, a botanical and floral picture.

TreatBox, you most certainly have captured the essence of August for me so perfectly. Its all about the outdoors, a botanical set of gorgeousness!

So what does the box include?

Happiness cards, because we all need a little reminder once in a while that we’re only human! My favourite quotes  are  ‘Saltwater cures all wounds’ and ‘You gotta nourish to flourish’. They are handbag size too, which I think is such a great idea; ready if you need that instant assurance.

An in-house designed unique A5 print ‘Yesterday, TODAY, tomorrow’.

A bath bomb, for the shower! Genius. Hats off to the turn of the century {and it smells A-mazing}.

Botanical notebook, complete with a sassy pink pencil ‘You can plant a dream’.

An Anatomicals face mask. Turns out this is a new kid on the block, a total purifying face mask ‘off with their black and white head’…it pretty much works wonders {my husband vouches for that too!}.

In the true spirit of all things botanical, the prettiest of lunch bags, adorned with the lushest of tropical leaves.

August box, you’ve been a dreamboat…..

Treatbox UK {July Box}

July 21, 2018

It’s almost like the July treatbox was made with me in mind. I mean, as if receiving a gift, just for me, through the letterbox isn’t enough. But, a French themed one. Well, ‘bonjour toi’!

I can’t rave enough about the packaging, just gorgeous isn’t it? Every care and attention has been taken to make this letterbox treat as luxurious and special as possible. I love that.

Every single item is described in great detail.

Inside the box this month, a gorgeous picture frame, the cute-as-a-button coin purse; a perfect addition to your summer bag, a biscuit (because who doesn’t love a biscuit with a cuppa?) Eiffel Tower socks; because nothing speaks France more than the architectural feel of this awe inspiring building (they are so soft). Pin badges, BubbleT lip balm (could be mistaken for a tasty macaroon) And my favourite, a beautiful print that will brighten your day ‘ a la belle etoile’.

I’m really enjoying these boxes and at £12.95 they are such an inexpensive monthly treat.

Pop over to TreatboxUK to find out more about the full range of products available, including one-off boxes, monthly subscription, 3,6 & 12 month packages and build your own boxes (which I am very keen to try!) Plus, if you subscribe to their newsletter you can receive 10% off your first order. Just thank me later…..

Already dreaming of the August box……

Have an amazing weekend,

Dining with Robert Welch UK

July 11, 2018

These long balmy summer evenings are definitely my favourite. Seasonal dining, with the doors open wide, I cant think of many things that are better.

Setting a table for guests is something I really enjoy,  always keeping it simple, mainly as I think a simple table is the most effective. Fresh crisp linen, always white for me. Candles;  not just for how pretty they look, but I like to pick a scent that works with the season. For this table it was lime and ginger. Fresh flowers; usually garden offerings, I think these create a more natural, rustic, homegrown look. For this table it was lavender, the smell was amazing. Super clean glass wear (it has to be sparkling) Always white plates/serving bowls, simple and stylish. Finally cutlery; good quality cutlery is SO essential.

Robert Welch very kindly gifted to me the Trattoria Bright Cutlery Set to review whilst dining with friends and family last weekend.

‘Every Robert Welch product is designed in the Old Silk Mill at Chipping Campden by the Robert Welch design team. The Mill, nestled in the English Cotswold Hills, is where founder, Robert Welch, began designing in one small room, back in 1955’

I love a product with a proper, wholesome story behind it and was especially won over by this design being British and ‘kitchen table’ homegrown.

The Trattoria cutlery has a traditional appearance inspired by European bistro dining. Designed with the highest quality of 18/20 mirror polish stainless steel (the shine is amazing!) and POM plastic handles with stainless steel rivets. This cutlery set is classy and elegant, great for indoor and outdoor dining whether it be elegant or more casual. The weight is great, heavy enough to feel VERY premium, but light enough to feel comfortable to hold and use.

Its comes with a 25 year guarantee and is dishwasher safe (win, win!)

Scrolling through the website, Robert Welch offer a cutlery sample service, which is such a great idea. Buy a sample set here

So, would I spend my hard earn’t cash on this cutlery, absolutely YES! Fantastic product, a gorgeous range to choose from and whats more, all designed in good old Blightly!

{Using the code SOCIAL20 you can take £20 off orders over £100}

Happy Summer dining!

Treatbox UK {June Box}

June 15, 2018

Wouldn’t it be nice if  you were delivered a little gift each month, as a surprise? To get home from work/school run/the weekly shop, to find a little something on the doorstep thats JUST for you. We all like the ‘happy mail’ feeling, I know I do, thats for sure. I was recently discussing, how it can be tricky to find time for myself, a bit of ‘me’ time. Always so much to do (and often too little time to do it in!) I was interested in how others have a little ‘pick me up’ during the month, when work is tough, the baby is weaning, the toddler is potty training and ALL the other million possibilities that can make us feel needy of a little ‘me’ time.

Now we all know too well, ‘me time’ is a concept that can be a near on impossibity when a zillion jobs are queuing in front of our eyes, you’re knee deep in ironing, and the empty fridge isn’t going to buy and prepare dinner! But, how about a treat, each month, through your door, containing a few special treats. Just for you? This is exactly the concept of the Treatbox. Each month, for £12.95, a box of goodies are sent directly to your door. Sounds good doesn’t it?

I wanted to review the June box, to see the inside story of what a Treatbox is all about.

For a start, the packaging and literature inside is beautiful. I was a little blown away if I’m honest on how gorgeous it really was! A lot of time (and love) has gone into producing this lovely monthly gift. Inside this months box, a Divine Merci Hand Cream, mine was flower power (retail price of £4.90 for 30ml) A wooden slogan door plaque (retail at £5) Easy to grow sunflower seeds (retails at £2.50) Tweezers from the Vintage Cosmetic Company (retails at £8) Scented mini wet wipes (retails at £1) Sweet Little Wishing Bracelet (retails at £4) and my favourite, the handy meal planner pad, half of it being a shopping list pad ‘This Weeks Master Plan to eat Happy’ (retails at £6.50)

The quality of the products are very good, I certainly feel that I have value for money. I also think that the items included are ones I will actually use and enjoy (and will last)  My little girl and I had a lovely time planting the sunflowers, so aspects of the box can really be enjoyed by other members of the family and even the little people, if you wish.

Thanks TreatboxUK, June box didn’t disappoint, already excited for July!
